I have been struggling with weight for a sometime and I decided to go on a diet. A friend recommended a diet to me, according to which I should lose 8 pounds in a week. Of course, I immediately decided to try her recipe. The name of the diet is the Cabbage Diet because cabbage soup is the main ingredient of the diet. And here is the recipe for the soup:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 head of cabbage
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 green peppers
  • 1 bunch of celery
  • 2 carrots
  • 1–2 bouillon cubes (optional)

Directions:

  1. Chop all vegetables into cubes.
  2. In a large stock pot, sauté the onion in a small amount of oil.
  3. Then add the remaining vegetables and cover with water or a vegetable cocktail if you want to add the bouillon cubes or other seasonings.
  4. Cook until the cabbage is tender.

You may season the soup with salt, pepper, hot sauce, herbs or spices.

And this diet has rules. These are the rules:

Day 1: Unlimited cabbage soup and fruit. Bananas are not allowed!

Day 2: Only soup and vegetables. You may also have one baked potato with butter or oil. Beans and corns are forbidden!

Day 3: As many fruits and vegetables as you can eat, in addition to the soup. Potato, beans, corns and bananas are forbidden!

Day 4: Unlimited bananas, milk and cabbage soup.

Day 5: You are allowed 10–20 ounces (280–567 grams) of beef, which you may substitute for chicken or fish. You may also have up to six fresh tomatoes.

Day 6: Soup, beef and vegetables. Potato is forbidden!

Day 7: You may have vegetables, brown rice and unlimited fruit juice — but no added sugar.

It is strictly forbidden to eat snacks or drink alcoholic beverages!

This recipe seemed very good to me because I knew that every time I felt hungry I could eat soup.

And how was it? Here is my “Cabbage soup diet” diary:

Day 1 – everything is great – I eat as much soup as I want and I mostly eat blueberries, apples and strawberries

Day 2 – soup again and zucchini – lightly fried. I also made myself a salad of peppers, cucumbers and carrots. In the afternoon I felt hungry. I ran to the kitchen to make myself a baked potato. A baked potato has never smelled like that in my life! Uh, everything is easier after eating.

Day 3 – soup again! I already feel like I’ve lost weight, but this soup is already getting on my nerves. I can’t do this!

Day 4 – a banana, soup and then milk with soup. I only ate one plate of soup today. I can’t anymore! I enjoyed milk and bananas and look forward to the next day with meat.

Day 5 – soup and meat. I ate only one plate of soup again. I know I needed more but I really can’t. Now its smell bothers me too. But that’s why I enjoyed the cooked meat. Somehow it seems to me that this diet has awakened my sense of taste.

Day 6 – I don’t have a crisis today. Everything is better. I don’t want to weigh myself. I read somewhere that we can see the effects of a diet the day after its completion. I decided to measure myself only on the eighth day. And so, today I enjoyed meat and tomatoes. I barely ate the soup.

Day 7 –  It`s finally over! The rice was awful but my brain regimen is that this is my last day and I don’t want to ruin what I have done so far.

Day 8 – finally, I weigh myself and SUPRISE – I lost 4 kg (it is about 10 pounds)

Conclusion: the diet works but for the future I think I will turn to some other methods because I can no longer eat this soup. I think I will start drinking teas instead of fizzy juices. If I decide to do something like that, I will write a blog.
